On June 6th, 2016, the 23rd Annual St. Anselm's Abbey School Golf Outing was held at the Glenn Dale Country Club. At noon on a very warm day, 66 golfers, including were treated to a picnic lunch before tee-off. Around 6:30 p.m golfers began to return to the clubhouse. Along with Jim Filpi, ’86, founder of the Golf Outing were the usual suspects, and joining them was a vast group of new golfers including alumni, parents, and current students. Some of the more seasoned alumni participating for a second year in a row were Fred Tansill, Jim Beirne, and Robert Branson from the Class of 1966, and Peter Szegedy-Maszak from the Class of 1968.
Our younger players, also returning for a second year, brought enthusiasm—James McFeeters, ’14, and his brothers Quinn, '16; Carlo Pizzano, Form III, along with his brother CJ, who graduated last year. The winning “threesome”, were from Coakley Williams Construction Company: Dan Swarthout, Patrick Dowd, and Jon Lowe.
After the post-tournament dinner, the Alumni Association announced a gift of $14,000 for the scholarship fund. We are most indebted to Patrick Caulfield and the Coakley Williams Construction Company for being our principal sponsor, and all those sponsors listed to the right.
