At St. Anselm's, we know that a great school isn't defined solely by what goes on in the classroom. Every day, we seek to help our students find the "balance of mind, body, and spirit" that is laid out in our mission statement.
Art, music and drama classes are taught in both the Middle School and Upper School, and advanced offerings are available to juniors and seniors. Students also take advantage of extensive extracurricular programs, including choirs, ensembles and the Priory Players, our drama troupe, who put on two productions each school year.
Clubs & Activities
The creativity and leadership of our students are the driving force behind our clubs, which include the Green Panthers ecology club, Teenage Republicans and Young Democrats, and the staff of the Priory Perspective yearbook. Any Abbey Boy, with the support of a faculty sponsor, has the opportunity to found a club or activity to explore a talent or interest along with his classmates.
Our small size helps to foster a lasting sense of community among our students, families and faculty. Our dedicated Parents Association organizes a host of picnics, dinners and other social events throughout the school year. Our strong and active Alumni Association helps graduates stay connected to St. Anselm’s long after they receive their diplomas. The distinctive character of St. Anselm’s creates a feeling of brotherhood among the students.
Among current students, our unique House System creates bonds that span all ages and gives new students a sense of belonging.
Faith & Service
The Benedictine monks of St. Anselm’s Abbey have a profound influence on the school, serving as teachers, administrators, chaplains and advisors. Their community life embodies the Christian understanding of humanity and moral values, as these are taught by the Catholic Church, guiding the spiritual growth of students and faculty of all religious and cultural backgrounds. Students take courses in theology, ethics and comparative religion and take part in spiritual retreats each year. Juniors and seniors participate in weekly service projects in local communities.
