Headmaster's Welcome

Headmaster's Welcome

If you’ve taken even a cursory look at this site, you can probably tell that St. Anselm’s is a Catholic and Benedictine school. I hope that realization literally jumps off your screen! We want you to know that St. Anselm’s is not simply in the shadow of a monastery; the Benedictine monks and the Benedictine ethos define our school.

What might not be quite as obvious is that we are also a boys school. Most single sex institutions are quick to point out that there aren’t as many “distractions” at our schools. While this may be true, the real charm of St. Anselm’s is that the teachers who are drawn to teach here know and deeply understand how boys grow and develop. They get boys’ challenges — their developing frontal lobes, their occasional impulsiveness, and even their mismatched socks! Despite these challenges, we don’t see boys as defective girls. We believe in boys!

Our goal is to help our boys become their best selves — to eventually be the men they were meant to be. So while we are a Catholic and Benedictine school, we are also very much invested in the “boy development” business.

What could be more worthwhile?
