Summer Programs at the Abbey!

All Camps are led by experienced Abbey teachers and coaches.

Aftercare is available from 3-5pm.  $100/week if prepaid, and $25/day (billed later) if per day.

  • Study Skills for Middle & High School

    This one-week program is offered twice and will expose students to new strategies and techniques to get the most out of their daily study routine. Take a week this summer to develop the tools and habits that will serve you well all year long! Open to students entering Grades 6 and up.
    Offered June 22-26 & July 6-July 10 / 10:30-11:25 AM / $375 per session
  • The Priory Players' Summer Theatre Camp

    We are doing two different summer stock performances for different age groups:
    • Singin’ In The Rain Jr. will be rehearsed and performed by students entering grade 9 in fall 2026 through recent spring 2026 graduates. Rehearsals are Monday-Friday, July 6th-10th from 8am-3pm. The production is Friday, July 10th at 7pm.
    • The Little Mermaid Jr. is for students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 in fall 2026. Rehearsals are Monday-Friday, July 13th-17th, and Monday-Friday, July 20th-24th, from 12pm-3pm. The production is on Friday, July 24th at 7pm. 
    If you must miss a rehearsal, our office can adjust your registration fee.
     
    Students will audition for roles on the first day of “camp”, then rehearse for all of the camp days, in preparation for the big performance, which is free to attend for family, friends, and loved ones.
     
    Throughout the rehearsals, students will participate in workshops that focus on acting, singing, and dancing. Students will get costumes, props, set, lighting, and sound added to their production. All in just 1-2 weeks!

    The performances will be at 7 pm Friday, July 10 for High School and 7 pm Friday, July 24 for Middle School.
     
    These shows have plenty of roles for students of all ages and backgrounds.

    High School is offered July 6 - 10 / 8 am - 6 pm / $600
    Middle School is offered July 13 - 24 / 12-3 PM / $700
     
  • Summer Art

    Open to students entering grades 6 and up.

    Drawing and Printmaking, 12:00 - 1:30 PM
    Learn the basics of drawing, watercolor, and printmaking in this condensed week-long workshop.  Techniques covered include basic line and shading methods, monochrome in watercolor, and linoleum printmaking.

    Ceramic Sculpture 1:30 - 3 PM
    This week-long workshop focuses on sculpting using 2 different mediums. The first material is clay which will be fired with a glaze finish. The second material introduced will be wood as students will create free-standing sculptures.
     
    The instructor is our own Mr. Mendoza, who teaches multiple art classes to all grades here at St. Anselm’s.

  • Music Appreciation/Singing/Piano

    Summer Music at the Abbey
    Students may elect to take the afternoon course comprising of three components: 
     
    Music Appreciation
    Students will learn about music in a classroom environment through the chronological study of music history, theory, and listening. Emphasis will be placed upon the four Classical music periods, with an expansion into different genres of the 20th Century (including Jazz, Broadway, Pop-Rock, and Film). Students will conclude the course with presentations on a music selection of their choice. 
     
    Singing: Solfeggio & Theory
    Students will receive training in sight-singing and basic music theory. Students may also sing a diverse selection of repertoire according to class size, age and vocal range. Prospective genres include Classical, traditional/folk, spirituals, and popular. 
     
    Group Piano
    Students will work through appropriate lesson books according to their proficiency level in the school's piano lab. Outside music is welcomed with approval by the instructor. Each student will work at their own keyboard and receive individual coaching by the instructor. Students will also learn basic composition, including composed simple melodies with accompaniment. The course concludes with a class recital.

  • Remote-Controlled Robotics

    An exploration of remote-controlled robotics. Each week students will be building a different robot, testing one aspect of its performance, and then modifying the design to improve performance in that area. Open to students entering grades 6 and up. Students must register one week in advance of the class.

  • Engineering Robotics

    Students will be working with a forklift robot during all weeks.  During the first week, we will build the basic robot and benchmark its performance.  During subsequent weeks we’ll explore a different modification to the robot’s forklift function, exploring torque, power, mechanical advantage, and counterweights over the course of the summer.  We will test the modified robot’s performance and compare it to the benchmarks set during the first week.  Students in this course should have prior experience building robots (such as having taken our Remote-Controlled Robots course last summer). Students must register one week in advance of the class.

  • Pre-Algebra/Algebra 1

    There are two Math courses. One will focus on Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1, and the other on Algebra 1 into Algebra 2. Open to students entering 6th grade and up.

  • Algebra 1 - Algebra 2

  • English Enrichment

    This class combines applied practice in expository and creative writing with an intensive review of basic grammar. Grammar studies include sentence diagramming, writing projects include an introduction to the traditional five-paragraph essay, and creative writing includes free writing and poetry. Students may take just one week, but they may benefit from enrolling in multiple weeks as lessons build on each other throughout the summer. Class instructor Mr. Jonathan Vaile has been teaching English for over 20 years. Open to students entering grades 5 and up.

  • Latin

    Introduction to Latin is an exploration of the Latin language and ancient Roman civilization. Students will learn about fundamental concepts including the alphabet, pronunciation, noun declensions, and verb conjugations. Students will also learn some basic Latin vocabulary and English words derived from Latin. Other topics will include lessons on Roman history, government, architecture, daily life, and mythology.
    This course is intended for students who have not previously studied Latin in school. It is particularly suited for students with an interest in languages and ancient history, as well as students who will begin formal Latin study at the Abbey in the upcoming school year.
