Form VI Students

Form VI students and parents have spent several years planning for college. Beginning in the summer before the Form VI year, students will conclude their investigations and visits and apply to select colleges. Throughout the year, students will spend time evaluating their admission results and choose one college or university to attend.

Form VI Timeline:

July-August

  • Analyze your SAT, SAT Subject, and ACT results; plan additional testing days as needed. Go online to check for test and registration dates at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org.
  • Attend a summer school program, work, intern, or perform community service.
  • Continue to visit colleges and university campuses, tour and interview. This will help you narrow your choices for application.
  • Go online to www.commonapp.org and begin to draft your formal application.
  • Download application forms for non Common Application schools and complete.
  • Draft application supplements specific to each college.
  • US service academy applicants should visit the websites of their senators and representatives to secure information regarding Congressional nomination procedures. Contact www.senate.gov and www.house.gov.
  • Pursue financial aid options.

September

  • Register for SAT, SAT Subject, and ACT tests.
  • Sign up for college rep visits at St. Anselm’s through Naviance (through December).
  • Consult with Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Harwood regarding Early Decision/Early Action applications.
  • Arrange with College Counseling Office for transcripts and submission of application supporting documents for Early Decision/Early Action.

October

  • Take SAT, SAT Subject, and ACT tests.
  • CSS Profile should be completed for financial aid after October 1.
  • Consult with counselors regarding applications for November 1 deadline.
  • Arrange for submission of application documents with the College Counseling Office.

November

  • Take SAT and SAT Subject tests.
  • Consult with Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Harwood regarding applications for December 1/15 deadlines.
  • Arrange with the College Counseling Office for submission of the supporting application documents.
  • Notify the College Counseling Office of college acceptances/deferrals/denials.

December

  • Take SAT and SAT Subject tests. Check with college admission offices to see if the results from the December tests will reach them in time for review.
  • Consult with Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Harwood regarding applications for January deadlines.
  • Arrange with the College Counseling Office for submission of supporting application documents.
  • Notify the College Counseling Office of college acceptances/deferrals/denials.

January

  • Complete FAFSA and DC TAG forms for financial aid after January 1.
  • Take SAT or SAT Subject tests.
  • Consult with Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Harwood regarding applications with February-March deadlines.
  • Arrange for transcripts and other supporting documents with the College Counseling Office.
  • Notify the College Counseling Office regarding college admission decisions.

February

  • Notify College Counseling Office about a college admission decisions.

March-April

  • Notify College Counseling Office about college admissions decisions.
  • Consult with Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Harwood regarding admissions appeals.
  • Prepare to meet May 1 deadline for your college choice deposit.

May

  • May 1: National Candidates’ Reply Date for college deposits.

June

  • A final transcript is sent to the college each student will attend and to any wait-listed college by student request.
